Identity

Like all Irish people, Séamus is an avid sports fan and a member of the Munster Rugby Red Army, whose motto ‘To The Brave And Faithful, Nothing Is Impossible’ happens to work well in a coaching, NLP and training context too!!

Séamus has also been a faithful Atletico de Madrid season ticket holder since 1999. His first 'Atlei' game was in January 1991 at the Vicente Calderón. There has been many days and nights of frustration and joy since then, yet the one game that will go to his grave with him was a Spanish Cup semi-final game at home to Barcelona in June 1991.

Atleti had beaten Barcelona in the first leg and were losing in the Calderón. It was pretty much touch and go as to who would qualify until a goal from Manolo near the end meant Atleti were going to the final. Watching the match on his own in north stand, it didn't take long before he was joining in the celebrations and hugs with all the people around he didn’t know from Adam. It was clear there things were going to be different from then on in!

El Atleti is particularly important for Séamus because of its sense of community and identity. The Atleti slogan 'Otra forma de entender la vida', which could be translated as 'a different way of understanding life', resonates particularly true.

Every second weekend in autumn, winter and spring Séamus visits the Estadio Metropolitano in Madrid to watch 'el Atleti', where he happily and intentionally decides to leave all self-development and behavioural management training and most self-control at the turnstiles!!

You'll find songs from The Blue Nile, The Go-Betweens, The Triffids, U2, David Bowie, The Gloaming, Bell X1 and a host of others on his music playlists and you will often find him cycling along the bike lane which surrounds Madrid.
